On one of our earlier trips to Kosovo, we met with Mr. Afrim Maliqi who is the Director of HandiKos, a non-profit organization providing assistance to paralyzed persons in Kosovo.
He shared with us that they have a great need for wheelchairs in Kosovo and for medical training in prevention and treatment of pressure (bed) sores.
I mentioned this request to Denya Jacobs who is a home care nurse from Bozeman, Montana, and she said she was very familiar with this problem and treats patients who have these sores often in her work.
Denya discussed this matter with Niki Marancik who is a registered nurse from Billings, Montana, and they both agreed to go to Kosovo and provide this training. The plan is to make this happen in February 2014.
